HOP 1800:World's cheapest cellphone "Practically"
HOP HOP and HOP on the 1800 MHZ spectrum. You are there. Only $10. What else do you need. You have a rough and tough phone with 4 hours of talk time and 150 hours of standby time. Looks fairly ok and has embedded vibration, sim lock and keypad lock. Wow! What a fabulous approach when the world is busy selling cheaper iphones. This strategy perfectly makes sense.
Whats on the other side
On the other side is a phone that costs you more and only has a screen. This phone is screen less phone or to say a faceless phone and only has a keypad. It is a cordless phone with a good range and sim in it. Lets see what the world goes for and are they willing to put an extra 0(zero) in their budget to buy a cellphone.
The social downfall
I think it is an engineering marvel( to a certain extent). You can rip of the chasis of ferrari and make it cheaper and you can take out its engine and put a taxi engine or probably rip off a normal car and leave it with an engine and a seat and still say "Hey its the cheapest car". Will you carry with you a $10 handset with no screen, which looks like a walky talky and no display. You better save some dollars for a better phone. These things are good for the records but lets be practical. You wouldn't like to receive a call in a party with your friends and some one shouting "Hey! its that $10 phone". The people today are working hard. They are being payed well and they want to enjoy a higher social status (After all thats what we work for). So why this.
The mantra is "Work more, Earn more and Spend more". Thats not a Albert Einstein quote. Thats my quote.
